I just bought a

Keltec P11 the other day,
I am now hooked on this little pp.It is light as all get out , rugged ,accurate , and super easy to break down and clean .It is also in the working mans budget at around $269 . I shot mine straight out of the box (which I've heard is a no no ) using ball ammo but it performed with out a hitch. No feed problems what so ever .:yippee:

Is the P11 chambered for .32 ACP? The future son-in-law wants a Keltec, I've never handled one before, it seems like people either love them or hate them. Keep us posted.

I haven't shot a pistol in 15 years, I bought a S&W Sigma 9mm at 15 yds I put 5 in the black the first time. My 16 yr old son put 3 in the red. We ran 100 rounds through it right out of the box. No problems feeding or shooting.

The P11 is chambered in 9mm. P32 is in 32ACP, P3AT is .380.

The trigger pull on the P11 isn't very good, but it's restrike capable (keep pulling the trigger & the hammer will hit the firing pin again). P32/P3AT have much nicer trigger pulls, but are not restrike capable (like a Glock).

Congrats....I'm a relative noob so I have a question.

You said "shot mine straight out of the box (which I've heard is a no no ) using ball ammo but it performed with out a hitch".

Is there something one should normally do Before shooting straight out of the box? ie. break down, oil ????

Thanks
RK

Yes but I was impatient. And the p 11 came through.

I've shot one and rather hated it...

- Nasty long trigger pull
- Uncomfortable to shoot
- Hurts to shoot after putting a bunch of rounds through it

For what it is, a small deep concealment firearm, however, it is great. :)

I have a S&W Air weight .38 special. It is pretty much my least favorite firearm at the range but it is a joy to carry.

Usually with a new firearm a light cleaning is good. Check the chamber and bore for stray metal shavings. A bore light is good to have on hand. Then fire away!

Hey TA that picture is actual scale. Some complain about the heavy trigger pull but I don't have a problem with it. The older P11s had a 10lb trigger spring , however the newer ones come with an 8.5lb spring.

I'm happy for your new purchase - I do not mean to be critical of what works for you, but for me - I do not care for the P11...

I started out with the Kel-tec 32ACP (the 380 and 9mm Kel-Tec did not exist at that time) then i moved up to the 380. When the 9mm came out, my neighbor (that I instructed to by the 380) traded in his 380 Kel for the 9mm Kel. now he wishes he did not do that .

The 9mm feels quite a bit heavier in the pocket....to the point that I did not want to go up in weight.

I still reccomend the Kel-Tec 3AT = 380ACP for everyday pocket carry due to the lighter weight. In my experience, the P-11 is not a comfortable front pocket carry pistol due to weight. The Kel-Tec 380 = 11 oz loaded, the P11 = 20 oz loaded....that is nearly 2X the weight. (specifications for both below). Also, the 9mm is about 0.5" larger in all dimensions....note only a little bit thicker.....my primary complaint is the weight. A pocket holster adds even more weight. In my opinion the 9mm Kel is in the same size/weight class as the small 5 shot snubby revolvers....the 9mm Kel is still a bit more compact than the 5 shot revolvers due to revolver cylinder thickness. The weights of the 9mm Kel and 5 shot snubbies are the same.

I know the 9mm is quite a bit better cartridge...but the 380 does a pretty good job - esp if the shooter does his part.

I still feel the 380 Kel-Tec is the ultimate pocket pistol ever made.
